Bougainville Chocolate Festival 2016

The Inaugural Bougainville Chocolate Festival will be held in Buin on 5 July and Arawa on 6 July 2016.

— By Autonomous Bougainville Government

Once the largest producer of cocoa in Papua New Guinea, Bougainville is now looking to restore its place in the cocoa industry and re-build its reputation for producing fine quality cocoa. The cocoa industry in Bougainville is undergoing a revival with considerable government and donor investment.

The 2016 Chocolate Festival provides an excellent opportunity for quality chocolatiers to identify single source cocoa suppliers from across Bougainville. The festival will take the form of a series of field days and will bring together industry stakeholders and cocoa farmers from all regions of Bougainville.

The festival is an initiative of the Autonomous Bougainville Government led by the Department of Primary Industries in partnership with the Australian Government.
