Dear APNGBC Colleagues,
As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families during this festive season. It is a privilege to address you as the President of the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Council, and I am honoured to lead an organisation with such a vital role in fostering the business relationship between Australia and Papua New Guinea.
2024 has been a year of significant milestones and achievements. Together, we have navigated challenges and seized opportunities to strengthen trade and investment between our two nations. Papua New Guinea remains one of Australia’s closest and most important economic partners, and the resilience of our members continues to drive progress and innovation across diverse sectors, including mining, agribusiness, infrastructure, and energy.
This year, the Council has focused on providing valuable platforms for dialogue, collaboration, and advocacy. Our forums and initiatives have brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to address key issues and unlock opportunities for mutual growth. These efforts reflect our commitment to supporting the sustainable economic development of Papua New Guinea while ensuring that Australian businesses can thrive in this dynamic market.
As we look to 2025, I am excited about the opportunities ahead. From emerging renewable energy projects to advancements in digital connectivity, infrastructure, and of course ongoing developments in the resources sector, there is great potential to deepen our partnership and create new avenues for success. The Council remains dedicated to being a strong voice for our members and a catalyst for meaningful engagement between our two countries.
During this festive season, let us take a moment to reflect on our shared achievements and the enduring partnership between Australia and Papua New Guinea. On behalf of the Council, I wish you all a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May 2025 bring continued success, strengthened relationships, and exciting opportunities for all of us.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to working with you in the year ahead.
Vaughan Mills
