Letter from the Secretariat

Jul 20, 2023 | Blog, News

Last month the Council launched its new newsletter for members under the authorship of Dev Nadkarni, the Council’s new Communications, Partnerships and Relationships Strategist.

Feedback from recipients to the first edition has been very positive. The publishing schedule for newsletters is monthly and the content will continually be expanded and improved as will the Council’s social media presence especially on LinkedIn.

Dev is commencing work on a series of member profiles and has been in contact with some members about participating in these profiles. Some of the profiles will be supported by video clips. If you are interested in being the subject of one of these profiles, please contact Dev directly on dev@australiapacificbusiness.org.au so he can schedule you into the program.

The first edition of the newsletter included some member logos as an item of free of charge brand recognition for members. For the immediate future we will continue to do this free of charge, but it is intended in the future to monetise such branding as a means of generating some revenue for the Council which will support its expenditure on this media initiative. If you are interested in having a discussion about using your company branding on the Council’s website or on its LinkedIn or other platforms and on the monthly newsletter please let me know so we can discuss your interest.

We reported in the last newsletter and on social media feeds about the recent 12th Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum in Brisbane and the 37th Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum in Port Moresby.

Currently and over the next period the secretariat will be flat out preparing for coming events.

The 27th Australian Fiji Business Forum will be held at the Sydney Intercontinental Hotel from 30 August to 1 September 2023. We have confirmation that the Fijian Minister for Commerce and the Minister for Tourism and Transport will attend and speak at the Forum. The commencement dinner will be addressed by Ms Lisa Singh, a former Australian Senator for Tasmania with Fiji antecedents going back to the 19th century. We are still awaiting confirmation from the Fijian Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. More program and booking information is available here.

The Pacific Infrastructure Conference, Building Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure in the Blue Pacific, will be held in Brisbane from 25 to 27 September 2023 and will feature representatives from government and business from all Pacific islands companies as well as Australia, New Zealand and other donor countries as well as the Multilateral Development Banks.  More program and booking information is available here.

To maximise the value of your membership it is recommended you register to attend these events.

I look forward to hearing back from you on the matters raised in this note.
