Notably, Gutwein championed renewable energy initiatives, achieving a remarkable milestone of 100 per cent energy generation from renewable sources and net-zero emissions—a feat unparalleled by any other Australian jurisdiction. His visionary legislation enshrining a 200 per cent renewable energy target by 2040 positions Tasmania as a frontrunner in renewable investment opportunities.
Gutwein’s multifaceted involvement extends to the forefront of emission reduction technologies. Serving as a director of Countrywide Hydrogen Pty Ltd and advising companies on cutting-edge solutions, he embodies Tasmania’s commitment to sustainability. His leadership extends to innovative ventures such as Sea Forest, pioneering methane reduction in livestock, and INCAT’s ground-breaking lightweight battery electric ship project. Additionally, Gutwein chairs MRC Tas, overseeing humanitarian refugee settlement services.
Alongside Gutwein, Malcolm Norman Meninga AM, a revered figure in Australian rugby league, adds a dynamic dimension to the forum. Meninga’s illustrious career, both as a player and coach, epitomises excellence and leadership. Renowned for his record-breaking achievements on the field, including most appearances for the Australian national team and top-point scorer in State of Origin football, Meninga’s legacy transcends the sport.
Transitioning seamlessly into coaching, Meninga’s tenure witnessed unparalleled success, notably steering Queensland to nine State of Origin titles. His crowning achievements include leading the Kangaroos to victory in the 2017 and 2021 Rugby League World Cups, solidifying his status as a coaching luminary.
