When business meets Magic Round, it’s Game on for Growth

As we begin a new year, the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Council is turning its focus to a major milestone on the 2026 calendar and an event members will want to plan for early.

In 2026, the 41st Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum (#41APNGBF) will be held in Brisbane, coinciding with Magic Round, one of the city’s busiest and most anticipated weekends. Under the theme Game On for Growth, the Forum will bring together business, policy and partnership conversations alongside one of Australia’s largest sporting events.

This timing is intentional. The Forum will provide a flagship opportunity to reconnect with Papua New Guinea and Australian business leaders, senior government representatives and long-standing partners, while tapping into the energy and networking opportunities that come with Brisbane operating at full capacity.

While formal registrations and the detailed programme will be released by the Council in due course, this is very much a save-the-date moment. With Magic Round drawing tens of thousands of visitors to Brisbane, hotel availability is already tightening across the city. Members and prospective delegates are strongly encouraged to secure accommodation early, even as programme details are finalised.

Planning ahead will help ensure members are well positioned to participate fully once registrations open, rather than facing limited availability during an exceptionally busy period for the city.

The 41st Forum will build on a year of APNGBC activity supporting Australia-Papua New Guinea business links through forums, briefings and ongoing engagement across key sectors. It will also provide an opportunity to reconnect in person, take stock of recent developments, and look ahead to the next phase of commercial and institutional cooperation.

Further programme and registration updates will be shared by the Council in the coming months as preparations progress.
